ABOUT

Beatrice

Over the Garden Wall is a 10-episode American animated miniseries from Cartoon Network. Each episode is about 11 minutes long and the whole story aired over five nights from November 3–7, 2014. Created by Patrick McHale (who also worked on Adventure Time), it’s based on his earlier short film “Tome of the Unknown.” The story follows half-brothers Wirt and Greg, who get lost in a mysterious forest called the Unknown. Guided (and sometimes misled) by a talking bluebird named Beatrice and an ominous Woodsman, they encounter strange towns, magical creatures, and an ancient being known as the Beast as they search for a way back home.

“Before it even premiered, the LA Times called it ‘funny, creepy’ and hinted that the premise is more layered and complex than it sounds at first.”

Los Angeles Times

“The show holds about a 94% approval rating. Critics say that its modern sensibilities blend perfectly with a fairy-tale setting, creating a witty, whimsical series that works for viewers of all ages.”

Critics Consensus

“Described the show’s world as a world worth getting lost in, emphasizing how rich and intriguing the setting of the Unknown is.”
